My first significant exposure to occupational POV’s was through YouTuber “Stephen Patula”,
whose “Snow Day | Lunch Solo Table” video gave me fascinating insights regarding the work that
McDonald’s workers at the back-of-house perform, with Stephen performing almost-assembly-line-like
tasks, such as placing hamburger buns in the toaster, filling chicken-nugget containers, and assembling
hamburgers, that can be performed by a single worker (with resupplies being provided by other backof-
house staff) or with multiple workers sharing parts of the workspace. After a few minutes of
watching his work, I realized that, in addition to being helpful in gaining insights regarding the tasks
performed by such workers as him, his video (and other creator’s works, which I will mention below)
provided excellent “background noise” and as a wonderful video to place on a side-monitor for
individuals using multi-monitor desktop computers.
